The Tewkesbury Battlefield Society is a group of interested people who want to preserve, promote and interpret the history, archaeology and natural history of the sites associated with the battle for the present and future generations.
So why join the Society? A very valid question posed by a visitor to our stall at Bosworth and prompts an explaination about becoming a member, especially for those who don’t live close enough to Tewkesbury to enjoy our local functions. First of all, it gets you our periodic newsletters covering events and updates concerning the Battlefield. It also gets you our annual Journal ‘A Bit of a Slap’. Together, the costs of these pretty much takes care of the annual subscription of £5-00 ( family membership is £7-50 and International membership for non-UK residents is GBP £10-00.)
You will also have the chance to buy our own fully illustrated publication, ‘The Street Banners of Tewkesbury’ at the discount price of £10 (down from £12.99 RRP). You may also receive reciprocal discounts from some of our affiliated societies, (including The Battlefields Trust). But most of all you’ll be making an overt gesture of support for the overriding aim of the Society, to preserve the Battlefield for generations to come.
Being able to muster a worldwide army of supporters for our cause lends weight to the preservation effort and also gives us a body of opinion to call on should threats to its integrity rear their heads again.
The Society invites all those who feel strongly about the preservation and investigation of this site, one of the most significant battles of the late middle ages or would like to become involved in its activities, to join.
Membership runs from the 1st July for twelve months. To become a new member, or to renew your existing membership, please print out and complete the Membership Application form in this link and post to the address shown.
You may also use this form to instruct your bank to pay your membership subscription annually by standing order and, if you are UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax payer, make a Gift Aid Declaration. Which, as the form indicates, is very helpful to the Society.
